A 40ft container has derailed from a truck and crushed many people in the capital Freetown on December 22nd 2023. The accident happened at a time when Christmas festivities are going on in Sierra Leone after the lifting of the curfew by the government after a failed coup that took place on November 26th 2023.
According to sources, the accident was due to a break failure. The driver was unable to stop the truck due to break failure and plunged into the crowd, which killed and injured many people. The wounded were taken to the government hospital where they are taking treatment. We bring you more information as it becomes available.
